Retirement: On the April 11, 2011 episode of RAW, Edge shockingly announced that he
would be retiring. This came as a surprise to all, himself included, as he underwent tests issued by the
WWE to medically clear him to compete in a ladder match at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view. However, it
was revealed that he has spinal stenosis and could therefore not be cleared to compete again. Nonetheless,
Edge went on the European tour with the SmackDown brand during the remainder of April 2011 to address his
European fans.
