Edgeucation - July 22, 2003

Howdy folks. Have to start out by saying that, once again, the Edgeucation will be taking a hiatus next week. I travel to Vancouver for the Molson Indy this weekend and then fly to Edmonton and Calgary to promote upcoming live events.

(CHEAP PLUG ALERT!) Currently I'm in the midst of reading Mick Foley's new book, “Tietam Brown,” and I have to admit I'm thoroughly impressed. Now, I'm not just saying this because Mick is a good buddy. I give credit where credit is due, and the man can write. His first two books were great, but he was writing his life story, a daunting task I'm sure, but fiction is another ballgame altogether. From what I've read so far, he's pulled it off. I've caught myself laughing out loud at some of the disturbing yet funny comments the character's father spits out, as well as feeling the underdog mentality for Tietam. For those who enjoy reading, I vouch for it already. Here's a completely awkward white-guy high-five for the Mickster!

Many people have e-mailed asking who my favorite opponents are. Basically, I divide my career into two categories: my tag days and singles days. My favorite tag opponents would have to be the Hardy Boyz because of matches like that first Ladder Match at No Mercy, the Ladder Match on the first-ever TNN RAW and the Unforgiven Cage Match. The promos we cut on them, God bless ‘em. At that point, Mattitude was a long way off, so it was like beating baby seals (which sickens me, by the way).

If I could cheese out and call it a tie, the Dudley Boyz would be there too. The intensity shot to a new level when the Dudleys were introduced into the mix. The TLCs are still the matches I get asked about. People just can't seem to fathom what we did to each other. Looking back (especially now), I don't know if I can, either.

When it comes to singles, that's a tough one. Whew, we got Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, Christian, Chris Jericho, Rob Van Dam, Booker T, Brock Lesnar, and I enjoyed getting there with all of them. I have to give the nod to Kurt Angle. He has that innate ability to pull a good match out of his ass. He and I clicked, but not right away. We stumbled through King of the Ring and U.S Title matches until Backlash last year in Kansas City. It's what helped bring out my confidence as a singles performer. I felt like I rounded a corner that day, which will hopefully still lead me to the WORLD TITLE.

This brings us to my predictions (which I'm sure will be all wrong) for Vengeance this Sunday.

Kurt Angle vs. Big Show vs. Brock Lesnar I gotta go with my heart instead of my head and pick Kurtski.

Eddie Guerrero vs. Chris Benoit First of all, I can't wait. This time I go with head and no heart and pick Latino Cheat.

Sable vs. Stephanie McMahon For those who forgot, I teamed with Sable in my very first pay-per-view and I'm a much better partner than Vinnie Mac. So for that reason alone, I pick Steph.

Vince (Mr. McMahon) vs. Zach Gowen It still boggles my mind to watch this kid (I can get away with calling people kid now, being a not-so-grizzled veteran). I can't believe that he has one of the best dropkicks in the business, but I gotta go with the crotchety b******, genetic jackhammer (I wish I'd thought of that one), Mr. McMahon.

Rey Mysterio & Billy Kidman vs. World’s Greatest T........Suck Squad This one should be off the hizzle for shizzle (see, I'm down). I'll go with Haas & Benjamin in one hell of a match.

The APA bar fight I'll go out on a limb and say the APA, although watch that Spanky, he's spunky.

Undertaker vs. John Cena I love watching Taker's stuff, more so now than at any point of his career. Cena's runnin’ with the ball. This one's a toss up. I won't venture a guess.

Unfortunately, I won't get to see Vengeance because of my appearances, but I'm sure my SmackDown! brethren will come through on their first separate pay-per-view. Speaking of separate shows, here's a question I'll leave you with: Although you last saw me as a SmackDown! "Superstar," which show would you guys like to see me return to?

That's all I got this week folks. See ya in a couple weeks. Until then, you have been Edgeucated.
