Edgeucation - November 12, 2003

Howdy pardners, Edge-o back with another installment of the Edgeucation. Sorry I slacked last week, but by the time I packed for the road, I had no time to type up the article. Hit the live events last weekend in Kitchener, Montreal and Ottawa. Had a great time and rode with my good buddy Rhyno. I did forget how tiring the road is, however. Wow, that's something I definitely need to get used to again. It's amazing how you can get so out of road shape watching episodes of "The Simpsons" for eight months.

Speaking of eight months, that means another checkup with Dr. Youngblood down in San Antone. I went last week after the shows and the prognosis is great. He said it is a definite that I will make it back for WrestleMania -- my only goal since the surgery March 10. I'll get my clearance four days before, but at least I'll have a month of OVW under my belt to try to get in ring shape. In the meantime, I've been given clearance to start "tumbling." I'm not exactly a luchadore (as evidenced by my Los Conquistadores roll into the ring), but at least it's something.

Now let's get to the rumor mill. First and foremost, I am not Egghead (although I do have a rather egg-shaped melon), and as far as I know, I'm not in the next Batman movie. I would think that I would be one of the first to know, so, as much as I would like to trade blows with the Dark Knight on the silver screen, I hate to admit, it's not true. Hell, I don't even have an agent! Now to the next rumor. Several concerned Edgeheads (not Eggheads), e-mailed me after reading an Internet "report" which stated that I was seen at a Tampa Bay Lightning game and that I looked frail, and lucky to be 200 pounds. Well, I haven't even been to a Lightning game this year, and right now I weigh 245 (thanks to some Ma Edge cookin'). So if anyone sees this fragile imposter at the Lightning games, give him a spear for me! (Only joking, folks. Seriously, only joking.) The final rumor of the week is true. If you listened to Byte This!, you know that I am indeed writing the Edgeucation of Adam Copeland, the book. It's been a nice little labor of love, and pretty therapeutic. There are so many things I've forgotten that are coming back to me, and making me laugh at myself all over again. The theme of the book: I'm basically an idiot who makes a living, living his dream.

Maybe at some point I can include some excerpts here. I'm about 20 chapters in, or about 20,000 words. They want 75,000, so I have some work to do. I wondered if it is too soon, but screw it, I'm having fun, and reading it back, I think it will turn out to be a fun, entertaining book.

Went to the Slayer concert at the House of Blues in Orlando on Sunday night. They are without a doubt the fastest and heaviest band I have ever seen live. It was pretty damn cool seeing one of the "Big Four" metal bands of the 80s who are still chugging today. Met up with guitarist Kerry King, who happens to be a big wrestling fan, after the show, and found out he's looking for a big Edge comeback. Hope I can oblige.

I'm off to go tumble, so until next week, you have been Edgeucated!
