Adam Weekly - Issue # 32
Well, it looks like the WWE has thrown us yet another curveball where Edge is concerned.
This past week on RAW saw our hero interrupting 'the mighty' (*cough!*) Triple H in the middle of one of his would-be long monologues, and we Edge fans and Triple H haters couldn't have been more thrilled. Edge got into 'The Game's face and told him that it was time for a change, and said that Evolution would be going down one-by-one - and that *he* would be the person to see to it that this happened. The Edge we saw last month that had miscommunications with then-tag team partner Chris Benoit is gone. This is the same Edge who similarly interrupted Randy Orton in the middle of the Legend Killer's speech on RAW the night following Backlash, in which Orton had defeated Mick Foley in a brutal hardcore match. This is the Edge who showed a fierce determination and oozed confidence to an extreme - not an arrogant one, mind you, but one who is simply saying, "enough is enough," and "I'm mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it anymore." This is solo Edge at his best. He may not be the goofy, more fun-loving solo Edge who poked fun at the likes of Booker T and Kurt Angle, but the epitome of inner strength and determination so great that he'll get exactly what he wants - *and* what he deserves.
After last week's shining moment with Edge standing toe-to-toe with Triple H, never backing down an inch, I wondered if maybe Edge would form a faction of his own to achieve his goal of taking Evolution down. He's a smart man and no doubt knows he can't do it *alone*. He's already got Benoit and Chris Jericho on his side, and I would say Shelton Benjamin would be a part of the group if not for Shelty's broken hand. However, because of all the manipulation and pathetic tactics of late, this is where Eugene comes in. Benoit is Eugene's friend, Jericho was really nice to him a few weeks ago when he was his guest on the Highlight Reel and Edge was upset (anyone else notice him say 'shit' during this spot on RAW last week?) when he accidentally knocked him off the apron during the handicap tag team match last week. Eugene would be an interesting addition to this group, but these four guys could definitely give Evolution a run for their money.
Any takers on my faction idea? It could be possible, since the WWE somehow seems reluctant to let Edge be a completely solo superstar these days.
Now, I will give my Vengeance predictions for tonight...
Ric Flair & Eugene Vs. La Resistance (World Tag Team Title Match): La Resistance is a good team, Flair and Eugene are good, but they've never really served as a team. However, I have a feeling the underdogs will win and we'll see new tag champs.
Matt Hardy Vs. Kane (Hardcore Match with Lita at Ringside): *Sigh* Anyone who really knows me and has discussed this storyline with me knows how much I hate it. I think it's a stupid idea for Lita to be at ringside during this match, as it will no doubt be crazy. However, I guess it's possible she's going to be there so as to cause a miscarriage (it wouldn't surprise me to see her try to get involved or for her to get knocked down) to end this moronic storyline. I also think it's really stupid for Matt to be having such a match when his knee is so messed up - but I think Kane is going to win, and I think this match is the basis for Matt being off TV to heal from the injury.
Chris Jericho Vs. Batista: Y2J has certainly had his problems with Batista and Evolution lately, much like Edge has. What I'm hoping will happen is that Edge gives Jericho an assist if he needs it, and vice-versa - as we all know the members of Evolution don't blink an eye to do that for each other. I wouldn't be surprised to see either Randy Orton or Ric Flair make an appearance during this match. I'm sort of torn on who will win this one. I'd say if one of Batista's cronies come out to cheat, Batista will win, but if that happens and Edge comes out to help Y2J, Jericho will.
Edge Vs. Randy Orton (Intercontinental Title Match): As successful (and lucky) as Randy has been in being the longest-reigning Intercontinental champion in seven years, I just *can't* bet against my Edge in this one! Things have certainly been getting really deadly serious between these two lately, and this has been brewing since May. I think Edge is going to do exactly as he said on RAW last week - Randy is going to be the first member of Evolution he takes down - and take the IC title with him!
Chris Benoit Vs. Triple H (World Heavyweight Championship Match): Why is Triple H getting yet another shot at this title??? It angers me that it's not someone else getting the shot, but we all know how egomaniacal 'The Game' is. Regardless of all that greed and self-importance, Benoit is going to walk out of Vengeance remaining the World Champ!
That does it for this week's issue. Next week, same time, same place!
