Adam Weekly - Issue # 56
Hi there, and welcome to this week's issue of Adam Weekly!
Well, this past week's RAW certainly started off with a bang, didn't it? We were all treated to what started out as a match between Edge and the Big Show. It surprised me that this match would take place, because after what happened the week before, I was sure that it would be a tag match pitting Edge and Snitsky against Matt Hardy and the Big Show. Not surprising, however, that's exactly what it evolved into. Early on in the singles match, Gene ran down to the ring to give an assist to his pal, and that of course, led to Hardy appearing as well. As melee ensued, General Manager Eric Bischoff did exactly what I expected and made it a tag team bout.
I won't get into specifics except for the ending of the match and the aftermath thereof. Let's look at what happened in the final moments... Edge seemed on the verge of getting finished by Hardy, but Lita, who'd been in the ring after being chased around ringside by Matt, came to her man's aid. Behind the referee's back, she kicked Hardy where it should hurt! Edge, of course, then got the victory after delivering a Spear. Once again, Edge emerges victorious while Matt is left laying. But that wasn't the end as our hero gratefully hands Hardy to his woman, and Lita takes matters into her own hands and delivers a beautiful Twist of Fate (karma's really a bitch, isn't it, Matt?). And yet once AGAIN, Hardy is left laying.
Later on in the show, after a commercial break, we cut back to RAW, and Lita and Edge are standing by the entryway, Lita giving an amazing promo. She says "the man will not hold Matt Hardy down - but the woman WILL." Edge speaks next and likens Matt to a preacher, but likens himself to the devil as he says, "Welcome to the devil's pulpit." He promises to end this thing at Unforgiven in the steel cage and says that he and Lita will "kiss Hardy's career goodbye."
Edge just continues to prove his point time and time and time again. Yesterday on WWE.com, there was a response from Edge directed at Hardy after some angry but redundant commentary (why is it that whenever Hardy speaks, he sounds like a broken record?). He likened himself to Angelina Jolie to Matt's Jennifer Aniston, said that Hardy could start a column and call it "Dear Matty," and called him his "Door-Matt." And once again, Edge continues to prove that he is superior to his enemy. It's just comical, the way Hardy keeps coming back when it's clear he just cannot measure up.
That will be it for this week's issue, but now I'll give you my Unforgiven predictions.
Shelton Benjamin Vs Kerwin White: Kerwin has been causing problems for Shelton for the last couple of weeks now, and frustration is set in for the former Intercontinental Champion. I don't think any golf clubs or hangers are going to be of any help to Kerwin this time, because Shelty has his number. My pick is Shelton.
Ashley & Trish Stratus Vs Victoria & Torrie Wilson: While Victoria is an amazing competitor, let's face it - she's stuck with dead weight in this tag match. However, Trish is in the same boat due to Ashley only having had minimal training so far. Therefore, Trish and Victoria are going to have to carry this match. Not only do I expect the Women's Champion to win it for her team, I fully expect her to pin Torrie - and it won't matter that Candice Michelle will be out at ringside for her team.
Hurricane & Rosey Vs Cade & Murdoch (World Tag Team Title Match): So far, since their debut on RAW last week, Cade and Murdoch haven't been impressing me. Unfortunately, Hurricane & Rosey have been getting buried like crazy, in both singles and tag matches. That's why I see the titles changing hands.
Big Show Vs Snitsky: I don't have very much to say about this match, but I don't see Snitsky winning. Big Show has too much size, strength and power. Unless some outside interference (Edge) comes to assist Snitsky, I see Show winning this one.
Shawn Michaels Vs Chris Masters: I still can't believe Masters has a match on a pay-per-view, much less one against someone the caliber of HBK. This guy has done nothing but get in Michaels' face and business over the last few weeks (not to mention bore the fans). After the events from last week and prior to that with the Masterlock Challenge, I absolutely see Shawn being the victor tonight.
Carlito Vs Ric Flair (Intercontinental Title Match): I'm a bit stuck on this one. Carlito is so crafty and clever, and he always seems to have something up his sleeve to win his matches. However, this time he's facing the Nature Boy, the dirtiest player in the game. I think he's not quite sure what he's up against. Flair is a veteran, 16-time World Champion. I can see him pulling off a win for his first ever reign as IC champ. Yes, I'm going with Flair.
John Cena Vs Kurt Angle (WWE Title Match): Like Chris Jericho before him, Kurt has been making Cena's life miserable each and every week. Nothing good can come of teaming up with the slimy Eric Bischoff, even if he is General Manager. He's also determined and tenacious, but then again, so is the champion. I see Cena getting revenge on Angle tonight and retaining the title.
Edge Vs Matt Hardy (Cage Match): I saved this match for last. Time and time again, Edge has been proving exactly what he said last month
in his brilliant promo - Hardy does not measure up to him in ANY way. He's proven to be superior to Hardy physically, mentally and verbally. He's
been the one to have maturity in this thing and to keep his wits about him. Hardy has not one-upped him since his return to the WWE, not even in
the Street Fight the two had a couple of weeks back. Edge may be the "heel" in this fight, but that doesn't mean he's going to lose. I see Edge
winning in the cage tonight and having yet another laugh over Matt.
