Adam Weekly - Issue # 78
Hi, and welcome finally back to a new issue. This one will be pretty short and sweet as I talk about Backlash tonight, and what I see happening and who I see winning.
Ric Flair vs Umaga (With Armando Alejandro Estrada): I can't say I'm all that thrilled about this match. After all the rumors of Jamal returning, I was actually looking forward to a 3-Minute Warning reunion, but then of course, the WWE had to go and release Rosey. I want to say Flair would win this, but he probably won't. Ric went after him last RAW, so I think it's safe to say that Umaga will have the advantage against him, not only with his huge size and strength, but also his annoying manager Estrada.
Carlito vs Chris Masters: I'm happy about this feud yet sad about it at the same time. I enjoyed these guys as a team and had hopes and beliefs that they would capture the Tag Team Championships together at WrestleMania 22... Oh well, I was wrong. But I think they're also having a pretty entertaining feud as well. Again, I'm a bit stuck, but I think I'm going to pick Masters to win this.
Mickie James vs Trish Stratus (Women's Championship Match): The mind games have switched in Trish's favor over the course of this month. This has evolved into a pretty good feud, although at times it's confusing (well, not really). I can see Trish winning, but not the title. Maybe Mickie would get herself disqualified somehow? Or another scenario I can picture is Jack returning to screw Trish over to help Mickie to win and retain the title. Either way, I see Mickie retaining the gold.
Kane vs Big Show: Like with Carlito and Chris Masters, this of course is a case of friends turned enemies. I really don't think there's been enough buildup for this match, but it's been fun seeing Kane so "tortured" with his movie coming out on May 19th, May 19th, May 19th. Big Show needs some vengeance, and that's why I'm choosing him to be the victor.
Shelton Benjamin vs Rob Van Dam (Winner Take All-Intercontinental Championship and Money In the Bank Contract on the Line): Here's another match that has me scratching my head as to who might win. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing RVD take the Intercontinental title, but I don't want him to have that AND the MITB contract at the same time. Call me crazy, but I just don't think that's fair. Shelton is an amazing wrestler who deserved more of a push than he'd gotten before Momma Benjamin came on the scene. Now, that's not to take anything away from the awesome RVD, but I would like to see Shelton keep the title longer. I can see this ending in a disqualification with each retaining their championship and contract respectively.
Shawn Michaels & "God" vs Vince & Shane McMahon: The premise of this match is too ridiculous for words. C'mon, let's face it, this is a HANDICAP match. I have been wanting to see this storyline end as soon as it started. Kill the pain already! Here's what I see happening tonight, and I HOPE it does happen - Shane finally gets fed up with his father's insane antics and turns against him, thus enabling HBK to get the win.
Edge (With Lita) vs Triple H vs John Cena (Triple-Threat WWE Championship Match): Everyone reading this right now no doubt knows that I am a fan of John Cena. However, he's had the title for far, far too long and needs to drop it. On that same token, you all know I am definitely not a fan of the self-proclaimed "King of Kings." And you ALL know that Edge is by far my favorite superstar (well, duh! Heehee!). I definitely don't see Cena retaining the title. Anyone remember New Year's Revolution? Of course you do! I also don't see Triple H winning it. Call me naive, say it's all blind faith, but I see Edge getting the championship back tonight. He didn't deserve his first reign to be cut so insanely short, and he has worked hard for what he's accomplished in the WWE. He deserves the title again, damn it! And once again, I'm picking Edge to walk out of tonight's pay-per-view with Lita on his arm and the gold around his waist.
That does it for this week. Enjoy Backlash for those of you who are seeing it, and RAW tomorrow night!
